This Indica dominant (85/25) strain was bred over four decades ago. Since then, Big Bud has risen to become a highly coveted strain with several awards attached to its name, including the Cannabis Cup.

Big Bud has 15% to 25% THC and 0.1% CBD. This hybrid results from a three-way cross of Northern Lights, Skunk #1, and Afghani. The dominant terpenes include Pinene, Myrcene, and Ocimene.

Flavor, aroma, and appearance

An enticing fruity aroma fills the room as the buds are broken down. Big Bud has a sweet flavor profile that appeals to many consumers, especially those with a sweet tooth. During inhalation, one can detect a fruity and spicy taste that awakens the taste buds. The fruity flavor lingers long after the toking session is complete.

Big Bud has enormous flowers, as hinted by its name. The nugs have green leaves and fewer than normal pistols. A silver trichome layer engulfs the entire bud, making it hard to break down using the hand.

Growing

This hybrid grows to a maximum height of 7ft, making it an ideal outdoors strain. If you plan to grow it indoors, conduct early topping and bending during the growth sprout stage to encourage horizontal growth. The plant is quite robust and can handle the big buds; however, you may have to provide extra support to the branches due to the bud’s heaviness. Big Bud is highly susceptible to mold and other pathogens, so growing it under optimum conditions is required. After 7-8 weeks, the strain produces up to 600 grams/m². Outdoors, Big Bud yields 700 grams per plant.

Effects

Big Bud's effect appears 15 to 20 minutes after the first toke as the strain is a creeper. Consequently, consumers should be cautious not to overconsume as it can lead to adverse effects. The head-high will keep you euphoric, positive, motivated, and happy. As the body-stone creeps in, one finds themselves heading to the nearest couch. Sedation takes over and eventually leads to sleep.
